Alright so here's my plan for Hannukah supper so far (trying to find relatively simple recipes):

Brisket: http://www.suite101.com/content/brisket-recipe-a37122

Broccoli kugel: http://kosherfood.about.com/od/sidedishes/r/kugel_broccoli.htm

Potato pancake: http://kosherfood.about.com/od/hanukkah/r/han_latkas_pot.htm (although I might just go to the dark side and use a box mix, I haven't decided)

Then of course, this is the recipe I always use for sufganiot: http://kosherfood.about.com/od/hanukkah/r/han_lsufganiot.htm It is fucking delicious.

My grandma is making rolled grapeleaves and cabbage rolls, as I mentioned earlier. Later tonight I need to make an inventory of what ingredients I need to get and what I don't need to get, since I plan on stopping at the grocery store after lunch at PF Chang's.

Normally we'd have kibbe balls too, but my grandma doesn't want to make them and my mom is being a drama queen. Anyways, I think that should be enough food.

I'm still not sure about the brisket recipe, so if anyone has any recs to that end I'd be glad to hear them.

The potato pancake boxed mix is actually pretty good as long as you add a few extra spices. Otherwise they're bland.

That all sounds very delicious, if not exactly like good diet food. But Holday food doesn't need to be. :) I don't know if you've made many steaks in the oven, it's rather tricky, I think, especially if it's a big piece of meat.Make sure that nothing in the marinade is likely to burn, because it can be a problem when cooking something for a long time, that the surface of the steak burns even though it's still raw in the middle. I don't know if you want it rare, medium or well done, but the closer to well done you want it, the more careful you need to be that the surface doesn't burn before it's cooked all the way through. Chili sauce sounds like something that might burn, if one doesn't watch very closely.

Also, I love cabbage rolls and grape leave rolls. :) The latter are hard to get one's hands on here, only special middle eastern stores even sell grape leaves.
